A native of Hull, Quebec, Clément Hoeck is a ceramic artist and cabinetmaker. Trained at the Centre de céramique Bonsecours and the École québécoise du meuble in Montreal, he draws his inspiration from the Asian tradition of stoneware and porcelain, notably following a remarkable stay in South Korea. Deeply influenced by the great North Asian masters of fire – Japan, Korea, China – Clément works mainly in high-temperature porcelain and stoneware, favoring a simple, uncluttered aesthetic in which the elegance of form and texture transcend time. He creates utilitarian and decorative pieces with simple, elegant and durable lines. Alongside his work as a potter, he creates original furniture in local and exotic woods, with sober, refined lines. Since 2009, he has been an active participant in the Pontiac Artists’ Studio Tour, as well as taking part in several exhibitions each year.
