With over 14,000 residents spread out over 14,000 kilometers, there’s a lot to discover in the MRC Pontiac!

We’re the “West” in “West Quebec,” situated along the Ottawa River and the border with Renfrew County in Ontario. Just an hour from Ottawa/Gatineau, we have all the benefits of being close to a major city while still enjoying the quiet rural life.

Our Region

From Bristol to Rapides-des-Joachims, Portage-du-Fort to Alleyn-et-Cawood, learn more about the various municipalities of the region and the wonderful people that make up the MRC Pontiac.

We owe much to the the Indigenous people that first settled the area and to waves of European immigrants that eventually called the Pontiac home. Learn more about the history of the Pontiac.

In 2020 the MRC initiated a strategic planning process to redefine the socioeconomic future of our communities. The process called for a visionary, integrated and participative approach.

The MRC Pontiac showcases the talent and artistic diversity of the region, and its works are made easily accessible to the public by being on permanent display at the MRC building.

More than 70% of the MRC Pontiac is the uninhabited and unorganized territory of Lac-Nilgaut. This untouched wilderness is home to cottagers, campers, hunters and fishermen who seek to get away from it all and be one with nature.
