Litchfield, April 22, 2022 – Public Forum on the proposed nuclear disposal site on April 26th, 2022
On Tuesday April 26th at 6:30 p.m., Warden Jane Toller alongside members of the Regional Council of Mayors will be hosting a public forum to discuss the proposed nuclear disposal site at Chalk River. The forum will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fort-Coulonge (525 Baume, Fort-Coulonge, Quebec J0X 1V0).
All concerned citizens are invited to attend the forum to have their voices heard. The comments made during the forum will be recorded and will be presented during Warden Toller’s deputations to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission at their public hearings on May 31st.
‘’As the MRC that is located the closest to the proposed site, I am very concerned that we were not included in the initial discussions when this site was originally chosen. The Pontiac has very strong ties to the Ottawa River, and we are very concerned about how this project can affect the health of our residents for generations to come. This public forum will be a great opportunity for members of the public to have their voices heard on this matter’’, declared Jane Toller, Warden of the MRC Pontiac.
