Litchfield, October 17, 2022 – In memoriam – Maurice Beauregard (1979-2022)
On behalf of the MRC Pontiac Council of Mayors, MRC staff and the residents of the Pontiac, I would like to express our profound remorse and sadness concerning the recent passing of Mayor Maurice Beauregard – the mayor of Campbell’s Bay.
Maurice was a member of the Council of Mayors at the MRC since November of 2017 and was previously a councillor in Campbell’s Bay since 2013. He was a strong advocate on many issues, including forestry, budget issues, public safety, human resources, and revitalization. Recently, he was elected president of our vitalization committee. He was extremely proud of Campbell’s Bay and had great vision and plans for its future. While in office, he accomplished many improvements, especially for the revitalization of his municipality’s downtown core and outdoor facilities. It was wonderful to be able to attend the grand-opening of the new playground just a couple of weeks ago and to witness the well-deserved inauguration and naming of ‘’Maurice Beauregard Park’’.
Maurice also served over 15 years as a Lieutenant firefighter and first responder for the Campbell’s Bay and Litchfield Fire Department. He was extremely proud of his involvement as a firefighter and was always there to speak up on important public safety issues when sitting on the Council of Mayors.
We offer our deepest sympathy and condolences to Kelly, Hunter, Carter, and the rest of the Beauregard family – we know how much they will miss him. He will be strongly missed at the MRC council. Recently, we were so proud to award him the honour of the Pontiac Paddle of Accomplishment while he was still with us. He will always be remembered as a true champion for the Pontiac!
Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville Quebec, on Wednesday, October 19 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 20 at 11:00 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 160 Front street, Campbell’s Bay, Quebec. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Campbell’s Bay and Litchfield fire department would be appreciated.
