Creative Development Fund
The MRC Pontiac would like to extend its investments and support towards its local artists by providing a new funding program initiative. This “Creative Development Fund” is an investment, by the MRC Pontiac of $5,000. 00 a year to assist in the creative process, as well as artist centres.
This fund seeks to address the gaps and challenges in the MRC’s ecosystem by providing grants to our local artists and artist centers, investing in their ability to focus on their art.
In 2022, the Creative Development Fund will be offering grants with a focus on:
- Literature
- Music
- Visual arts
- Galleries / artist centers
APPLICANTS’ PROJECTS MUST FALL WITHIN THE FOLLOWING STREAMS:
- Collaborative Projects stream, seeks to help support creative development through collaborative projects;
- Concert / exhibition stream, seeks to assist artist with Fees for livestream shows or pre-recordings with the purpose of streaming shows online;
- Creation stream, seeks to help support local artists in developing their creative projects;
** SPRING CALL: A total of 4 grants of $625 (totaling $2,250) are available for these components

MANDATORY DOCUMENTS:

- Appointment of a signatory and responsible representative within the framework of the project eligible for the Creative Development Fund (Only if you are an organization, or you have assigned someone else to represent you within the framework of this application).
GRANT CRITERIA:
Collaborative Projects stream.
Admissibility
- You must represent yourself as a professional within your respective field of practice (musician, visual artist, etc.);
- Your project must consist of at least two (2) separate identities (yourself and another professional, yourself and an organisation, yourself and a local business, etc.), working together to achieve a final production / product;
- You must have had gigs, concerts, tours or exhibitions in the past;
- Your project must be based within the territory of the MRC Pontiac;
Concert / exhibition stream.
Admissibility
- You must represent yourself as a professional within your respective field of practice (musician, visual artist, etc.);
- Your project must demonstrate that you have the ability to livestream shows or pre-record with the purpose of streaming shows online;
- You must have had gigs, concerts, tours or exhibitions in the past;
- Your project must be based within the territory of the MRC Pontiac;
Creation stream.
Admissibility
- You must represent yourself as a professional within your respective field of practice (musician, visual artist, etc.);
- Your must have a clear plan for exhibiting your creation, or have already scheduled an exhibition for which your creation will be displayed for public showing;
- You must have had gigs, concerts, tours or exhibitions in the past;
- Your project must be based within the territory of the MRC Pontiac;
Admissibility
- You must represent and provide professionals within the cultural world (musician, visual artist, etc.) with services and / or a space to showcase their work to the general public;
- Your must have a clear plan for continuing your work of providing a space and / or services for exhibitions for public showings;
- You must have had gigs, concerts, tours or exhibitions in the past;
- Your centre / gallery must be based within the territory of the MRC Pontiac;
NON-ADMISSIBLE EXPENSES FOR STREAMS 1, 2 AND 3:
- Regular administration fees / salaries;
- Day to day expenses, including but not limited to, hydro, rent (unless it is a rental space specific to the creation of your project), internet, membership fees, telecommunication costs, website, etc.
- Food and beverage, including liquor and alcohol, as well as liquor related permits;
- Debt financing, loan repayment or an already completed project;
- Insurance fees;
- Bank charges;
PROJECT FUNDING:
The assistance granted under the Creative Development Fund is in the form of a non-repayable contribution. In this sense, it is considered governmental in nature and not as part of the promoter’s financial contribution.
If the project is accepted by the analysis committee and the Council of elected officials of the MRC Pontiac, you will be allocated the total amount assigned and accepted, whatsoever the final expenses, as long as the project is completed and exceeds the amount allocated. An initial sum equivalent to 70% of the grant will be remitted as soon as a contract is signed. The last 30% will be provided upon written confirmation and proof that the project is completed.
If the project is not carried out, the promoter / artist must reimburse 100% of the sums received under the terms of the project.
The expenses must be made according to the terms described in the contract that will be signed between the promoter and the MRC Pontiac. The financial capacity of the promoter to carry out his project will be decisive in the awarding of a grant.
