The MRC Pontiac is proud to announce its participation in the training of a cohort of fire preventionists organized by the city of Gatineau in partnership with the CÉGEP de l’Outaouais. The one-year training program will run from January to December 2025 in Gatineau.
This initiative is designed to meet an urgent need for fire prevention technicians (FPTs) in the region. The MRC Pontiac, having already made several unsuccessful attempts to recruit a FPT in 2023, sees this training as a crucial opportunity to strengthen its fire prevention capabilities.
Upon completion of the training, the MRC Pontiac will offer a position as a fire prevention technician to one of its candidates, subject to obtaining the Attestation of Collegial Studies (AEC) issued by the CÉGEP de l’Outaouais. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen local fire safety skills, a priority issue for the region.
The MRC Pontiac would like to thank the Ville de Gatineau and the CÉGEP de l’Outaouais for this collaboration, which will not only train new fire safety experts, but also create essential employment opportunities for the Outaouais and Abitibi-Témiscamingue regions.
