News and Press Releases

The Warden for the MRC Pontiac, Ms. Jane Toller, issued the following statement:

‘’I would like to thank France Bélisle for her public service to the citizens of Gatineau and the Outaouais region. I enjoyed working with her at the Conférence des Préfets de l’Outaouais, where we shared a common business approach to advancing regional issues, particularly on housing. I’m also grateful for her support for the MRC Pontiac in publicly opposing the proposed nuclear waste dump at Chalk River.

It takes courage and determination to run for office, and public service must come with respect. Unfortunately, I can see that in recent years, particularly since the pandemic, intimidation and insults towards elected officials have only increased, especially on social media. In this sense, I find it regrettable that this kind of behavior led to France’s departure.

I know how much the well-being of Gatineau residents meant to her. France, on behalf of myself and the MRC Pontiac, I wish you every success in your future endeavours.’’
