Bryson, March 9, 2023 – Robert Bussière, Member of National Assembly for Gatineau, on behalf of Andrée Laforest, Minister of Municipal Affairs, announced a $1,249,998 agreement with the MRC Pontiac to stimulate entrepreneurial development.
The project has several components, including the creation of new businesses and the expansion of existing businesses in various industrial sectors. In addition, the support offered to business people and project leaders in the territory will be improved. Targeted interventions will also be implemented to stimulate the entrepreneurial desire of young people and encourage them to put down roots in the Pontiac.
The contribution from the Ministère des Affaires municipales et de l’Habitation (MAMH) amounts to $1,041,665 and comes from the “Signature innovation” projects component of the Fonds régions et ruralité (FRR). The MRC Pontiac’s participation totals $208,333.
“On behalf of my colleague Andrée Laforest, I welcome the initiative announced today. Our government considers it essential that the RCMs have the financial leverage they need to stimulate the vitality of their regions. That is exactly why we created the FRR! This agreement will have concrete repercussions, promote the entrepreneurial culture and foster economic development in the region.
Robert Bussière, MNA for Gatineau

- MAMH’s assistance is part of the FRR’s component 3 – “Signature innovation” projects for MRCs. This component encourages the implementation of major projects for the RCM based on an intervention niche that it has identified.
- The Minister of Municipal Affairs was recently in the Outaouais region as part of a tour of the regions to meet with elected municipal officials from across Quebec. During the meetings, the MAMH’s priority projects were discussed, including the implementation of the National Policy on Architecture and Land Use Planning, the renewal of the government’s strategy to ensure the occupation and vitality of the territories, and the importance of promoting better planned and managed blue and green infrastructures.
