On this National Seniors Day, the MRC Pontiac is proud to officially launch its Municipalité
Amie des aînés Policy and Action Plan, two guiding frameworks that will
support initiatives aimed at fostering an inclusive, accessible, and age-friendly living
environment for seniors throughout the region.

This collaborative initiative is the result of several months of work, reflection, and
consultation with residents, community organizations, local partners, and participating
municipalities. Developed in partnership with 14 municipalities across Pontiac, the
process helped identify key issues and establish concrete actions to improve the quality
of life of older adults.

The policy and action plan establish a shared vision for the years ahead and demonstrate
the MRC and its partners’ commitment to creating communities where seniors can remain
active, engaged, and fully integrated into local life.

“Our seniors play an essential role in the vitality of our communities. This policy
gives us the tools to better respond to their needs while continuing to build a
more accessible, inclusive, and welcoming Pontiac for everyone,” said Jane
Toller, Warden of MRC Pontiac.

To ensure the commitments outlined in this initiative are carried forward, a committee will
be established to oversee the implementation of the action plan and support the initiatives
that will be rolled out over the coming years.

The official unveiling of the Municipalité Amie des aînés Policy and its Action Plan will take
place on November 3, 2026. Additional details regarding this event will be announced in
mid-October. In the meantime, the MRC team will continue participating in various events
and activities across the region to present the initiative to residents.

Residents are also invited to meet the MRC Pontiac team during the Service Pathways –
Accessibility Edition event, organized by Connexions, which will take place on October 14
starting at 11:00 a.m. at the Bryson RA. The team will be on site to meet with participants,
discuss the Municipalité Amie des aînés initiative, and present the projects and actions
stemming from this approach.

The MRC Pontiac extends its sincere thanks to residents, seniors, organizations,
volunteers, members of the steering committee, and all partners who contributed to this
important initiative through their participation in consultations and collaborative activities.

Together, let us continue building a welcoming, vibrant, and inclusive Pontiac where it is
good to grow older.
