QU\u00c9BEC CITY, June 12, 2023 \/CNW\/ –<\/strong> The Minist\u00e8re des Ressources naturelles et des For\u00eats (MRNF) has decided to partially lift the ban on forest access on public lands and road closures announced on June 9, 2023, for reasons of public interest. This decision was taken in conjunction with the Minist\u00e8re de la S\u00e9curit\u00e9 publique (MSP) and the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de protection des for\u00eats contre le feu (SOPFEU), due in particular to changing weather conditions and SOPFEU’s fire-fighting operations.<\/p>\n

This modification takes effect on June 12, 2023, at 10 a.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Here’s a map showing the territory affected. The changes to the measure mainly target the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, Abitibi-T\u00e9miscamingue, Mauricie, Outaouais, Laurentides and Lanaudi\u00e8re regions.<\/p>\n

The ban on forest access on government land and road closures now applies to the following territory:<\/p>\n

NORD-DU-QU\u00c9BEC:<\/strong> Jam\u00e9sie (991), Eeyou Istchee (Waswanipi, Mistissini, Ouj\u00e9-Bougoumou, Chisasibi, Eastmain, Nemiscau, Waskaganish, Wemindji) (993).<\/p>\n

NORTH COAST:<\/strong> Haute-C\u00f4te-Nord (95) for its portion north of latitude 49\u00b0 15′ and west of longitude 69\u00b0 33′, Manicouagan (96) for its portion bounded by the following cardinal points:

\n68\u00b0 56′ O 49\u00b0 47′ N
\n68\u00b0 25′ O 49\u00b0 47′ N
\n68\u00b0 25′ O 49\u00b0 28′ N<\/p>\n

SAGUENAY-LAC-SAINT-JEAN:<\/strong> Maria-Chapdelaine (92) and Le Domaine-du-Roy (91) for their portion north of latitude 49\u00b0 04′, Le Fjord-du-Saguenay (942) for its portion north of latitude 49\u00b0 15′.<\/p>\n

ABITIBI-T\u00c9MISCAMINGUE:<\/strong> T\u00e9miscamingue (85) for its portion north of latitude 47\u00b0 32′ and east of longitude 78\u00b0 01′, Rouyn-Noranda (86), Abitibi-Ouest (87), Abitibi (88), La Vall\u00e9e-de-l’Or (89) for its portion north of latitude 47\u00b0 32′.<\/p>\n

MAURICIE:<\/strong> La Tuque (90) for its portion west of longitude 74\u00b0 31′ to latitude 48\u00b0 13′ and for its portion north of latitude 48\u00b0 13′.<\/p>\n

OUTAOUAIS:<\/strong> Vall\u00e9e-de-la-Gatineau (83) for its portion north of latitude 47\u00b0 24′.<\/p>\n

The Minist\u00e8re would like to remind the public that, at a time when major fires are raging in certain areas of Quebec, the utmost caution is called for. The cooperation of all forest land users is essential to protect our forests and ensure public safety.<\/p>\n
