QU\u00c9BEC, June 3, 2023 \/CNW\/ –<\/strong> The Minist\u00e8re des Ressources naturelles et des For\u00eats has decided to modify the ban on forest access on Crown land and road closures announced yesterday, June 2, for reasons of public interest. The ban now covers a large part of Quebec, starting at 8 a.m. on June 4, 2023. This decision was taken in view of the significant risk of new fires starting, and to facilitate intervention by the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de protection des for\u00eats contre le feu (SOPFEU).<\/p>\n

If you are in a public forest within the enlarged zone affected by the ban, please leave the area as soon as possible.<\/p>\n

The measure prohibiting forest access on Crown land and closing roads now applies to the following territory:<\/p>\n

NORD-DU-QU\u00c9BEC: Jam\u00e9sie (991), Kativik Regional Government (992), Eeyou Istchee (Waswanipi, Mistissini, Ouj\u00e9-Bougoumou, Chisasibi, Eastmain, Nemiscau, Waskaganish, Wemindji) (993).<\/p>\n

NORTH COAST: Haute-C\u00f4te-Nord (95), Manicouagan (96), Sept-Rivi\u00e8res (971), Minganie (981) west of longitude 64\u00b0 30′.<\/p>\n

SAGUENAY-LAC-SAINT-JEAN: Le Domaine-du-Roy (91), Maria-Chapdelaine (92), Lac-Saint-Jean-Est (93), Saguenay (941), Le Fjord-du-Saguenay (942).<\/p>\n

ABITIBI-T\u00c9MISCAMINGUE: T\u00e9miscamingue (85), Rouyn-Noranda (86), Abitibi-Ouest (87), Abitibi (88), La Vall\u00e9e-de-l’Or (89).<\/p>\n

The Ministry would like to remind the public that, at a time when flammability indices are extreme in most regions of Quebec, the utmost caution must be exercised to avoid a conflagration. The cooperation of all forest land users is essential to protect our forests and ensure public safety.<\/p>\n
