{"id":155243,"date":"2022-03-11T08:41:46","date_gmt":"2022-03-11T13:41:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mrcpontiac.qc.ca\/?p=155243"},"modified":"2023-07-01T13:18:17","modified_gmt":"2023-07-01T17:18:17","slug":"hydro-quebec-provides-the-pontiac-mrc-council-of-mayors-with-an-update-on-current-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mrcpontiac.qc.ca\/en\/hydro-quebec-provides-the-pontiac-mrc-council-of-mayors-with-an-update-on-current-issues\/","title":{"rendered":"Hydro-Qu\u00e9bec provides the Pontiac MRC Council of Mayors with an update on current issues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Gatineau, March 9, 2022 \u2013<\/strong> At a meeting today, Hydro-Qu\u00e9bec presented the mayors and the Prefect of the Pontiac MRC with its most recent study on the quality of service in the region and provided an update on current issues affecting the communities.<\/p>\n<p>According to the study conducted by Hydro-Qu\u00e9bec, customers in the Pontiac MRC experienced an average of 29.5 hours of service interruptions in 2021, compared with 26.3 hours in 2020. An ice storm and violent winds occurred on December 11 and 12, 2021, and affected a large part of Qu\u00e9bec, including the Pontiac MRC: This event alone caused an average of 15.5 hours of outages. In 64% of the cases, the outages were caused by vegetation. \u201cThere has been a significant improvement in the quality of service in certain municipalities, including L\u2019Isle-aux-Allumettes, L\u2019Ile-du-Grand-Calumet, Mansfield-et-Pontefract, Chichester, Campbell\u2019s Bay and Waltham,\u201d noted Alain Paquette, Advisor \u2013 Community Relations at Hydro-Qu\u00e9bec. \u201cHowever, the municipalities of Alleyn-et-Cawood, Clarendon, Otter Lake, Thorne and Sheenboro have experienced a decline in the quality of service. Extensive vegetation management is therefore planned in these areas for 2022 and 2023.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ongoing and upcoming projects<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hydro-Qu\u00e9bec will continue the refurbishment of Bryson generating station this year, and the upgrade of Wyman substation in Bristol will be completed in July 2022. Hydro-Qu\u00e9bec also intends to consult with the community in 2022. \u201cWe want to gain a good understanding of the community\u2019s hopes, we want to explain the reality of Hydro-Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s power system and we want to work with our partners to assess elements that are especially important to the Pontiac MRC,\u201d Mr. Paquette added.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Satisfaction of municipal partners<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In fall 2021, a survey was conducted with Pontiac MRC general managers and mayors in order to monitor changes in satisfaction and identify areas for improvement. Overall satisfaction with Hydro-Qu\u00e9bec was 84% (68% in 2019), satisfaction regarding the way Hydro-Qu\u00e9bec consults and informs stakeholders of its projects and activities was 82% (62% in 2019) and satisfaction regarding the support provided to the community by the Community Relations team was 85% (73% in 2019). However, only 78% of respondents reported that it is easy to deal with Hydro-Qu\u00e9bec.
