Litchfield, October 7, 2022 – Official launch of the new MRC Pontiac Regional Art Gallery

The MRC Pontiac and the Regional Council of Mayors are very pleased to unveil the newly renovated and redesigned display of the MRC Pontiac Art Collection in the Elsie Gibbons Room of their offices.

This project was made possible thanks to the financial support of the Government of Quebec and the MRC Pontiac under the Cultural Development Agreement – Partnership Initiatives Program.

“We are very proud of the fact that we have many extremely talented artists in the Pontiac. Over the past number of years, the MRC Pontiac has selected a piece of art to purchase each year in order to support our artistic community and we are very happy to now have a gallery where members of the public can come see and appreciate these pieces. The transformation of the Elsie Gibbons Room with new colours and new frames for both the art pieces and the pictures of the Wardens was done beautifully. We look forward to adding additional pieces to our collection in the near future and encourage all residents to come by during regular office hours to visit the gallery” expressed Jane Toller, Warden of the MRC Pontiac.

The Regional Art Collection is a public collection created in 2008 on the initiative of Rémi Bertrand, then General Manager of the MRC Pontiac. The objective is to build a collection of works by artists who have marked Pontiac artistic creation over time. The collection showcases the talent and artistic diversity of the region, and its works are made easily accessible to the public by being on permanent display at the MRC building.

The design of the new Elsie Gibbon boardroom was created by Caitlin Brubacher of Elephant in the Attic, a dynamic art curation and framing studio now located at the entrance to Pontiac in the historic Osborne Depot building at 17 Mill Street in Portage-du-Fort.

All works are currently on display at the MRC Pontiac in the Elsie Gibbons Room and can be viewed during regular business hours (Monday to Friday – 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm), provided the room is not reserved for meetings.

In conjunction with the reopening of the gallery, the MRC would also like to announce the call for artists for the next submission to the regional collection. All artists interested in submitting a piece to the collection can visit the MRC website for more information on the criteria: The call for artists is open from today, October 7, and will close on November 17 at noon.
