On this National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, we take time to remember, commemorate and reflect on a dark part of our history. This day is an opportunity to pay tribute both to the children who were never able to return home, and to the survivors of the residential schools. This tragedy has left significant and lasting scars, and the search for truth is an essential premise in the process of reconciliation and healing the deep wounds of the past.
The Warden, the Council of Mayors and the staff of the MRC Pontiac invite everyone to wear orange today to raise awareness and honor the memories of survivors who suffered atrocious harm and abuse in residential schools, as well as their families who are still suffering from intergenerational trauma. #EveryChildMatters
