The Artist
Lorene Hodgins-McLean was born in Shawville on December 29, 1921. She studied with Morten Baslaw, Larry Halpen, Bruce Garner, Tomoko Kamada and Jim Boyd at the Ottawa School of the Arts, as well as with Margaret Perkin of Toronto. She is a Fellow of the Ottawa Watercolour Society and a founding member of the Pontiac Studio Tours. She has taught extensively at her Green Lake Studio from 1980 to 2005.
Her work is mainly based on the use of watercolor and acrylics. She is known for her vibrant colors, her flowing lines and the quality of her compositions. Pontiac landscapes and flowers are her favorite subjects.
Lorene Hodgins-McLean has exhibited in many galleries such as: Andrew Dickson Gallery in Pakenham, Ontario; Muskoka Tamarack Gallery, Gravenhurst Ontario; PJ’s Gallery, Ottawa; York Gallery, Ottawa; Crossroads, Ottawa; Ottawa Civic Hospital.
