Pontiac MRC is counting on its citizens’ active mobility by being the first Quebec MRC to join the Mouvement vélosympathique Program as well as receiving an Honourable Mention!
On May 30, Vélo Québec, whose expertise is recognized throughout the international cycling community, unveiled the latest recipients of the Mouvement vélosympathique certification Program. This certification recognises the achievements of communities and organisations that promote cycling as a real transportation and recreation option for everyone in Quebec. During this third round of certification, the MRC Pontiac received an Honourable Mention.
In order to win this award, each candidacy is judged on its performance based on five main criteria called the five Es: Engineering, Education, Encouragement, Enforcement, and Evaluation & Planning.
This honourable mention is the first step in this ongoing process aimed at improving the infrastructure and promoting a cycling culture in the Pontiac. For that purpose, the MRC Pontiac has collaborated with the Green PPJ Verte Group in recent months to improve the conditions of the PPJ cycling trail, and support “Les ami(e)s du Cycloparc PPJ” in their PPJ tours.
