On behalf of the MRC Pontiac, I would like to express our thanks and full support for the huge effort and hard work of our SQ, fire services and paramedics. Our mayors and municipal workers and Mr. Julien Gagnon who are providing excellent leadership. The courage and strength of our volunteers, students and neighbours helping neighbours.
We strongly appreciate the presence of Will Amos, André Fortin and the army with their rescue equipment and army members.
We have never seen a flood of this proportion. We are in a crisis, and the 18 municipalities are doing their best to cope with each day’s water levels on the Coulonge and the Ottawa.
We ask you to follow the updates on CHIP FM, the municipal sites and other media. If you are evacuated and need shelter please contact the Red Cross or your municipalities for locations. We hope that no lives will be lost in this region.
We also hope that the water levels will peak soon and stabilize… In the meantime keep safe, have courage. We will get through this!
