Campbell’s Bay March 22, 2016 – The MRC Pontiac is encouraging local boat users to participate in a ABV des 7 (Agence de Bassin Versant des Sept) and McGill University collaborative research study to help the fight against aquatic invasive species in the Pontiac. They are a threat to ecosystems, the economy, and leisure activities in the region.
Since boat washing helps prevent the spread of these invasive species, the purpose of the study is to collect information on the behaviour of boaters to identify the best places to install mobile boat washing units.
L’ABV des 7 has published a letter inviting boat users to respond to a short questionnaire on their boating habits. Boaters interested in participating in the study can complete the questionnaire anonymously online, or by downloading the PDF version here. Participants have until April 15, 2016 to respond.
About the Agence de Bassin Versant des Sept (ABV des 7) : L’ABV des 7 is the local watershed organisation mandated by the Government of Quebec to protect and improve the water resource by engaging with local groups and citizens.
