350,000$ in funding available for community development projects in the MRC Pontiac

Litchfield, QC – August 15, 2023 — 350,000$ in funding available for community development projects in MRC Pontiac

Call for Projects – Regions and Rurality Fund – Component 2

In March 2020, the Regional County Municipality of Pontiac (MRC Pontiac) signed an agreement under the Regional and Rurality Fund’s Support for the Local and Regional Development Competence of MRCs component with the Ministère des Affaires municipales et de l’Habitation (MAMH). These funds support many different projects within the MRC. This call for projects is launched every year to support municipalities and local non-profit organizations in carrying out their community development projects.

The objectives of this call for projects are to improve living environments and encourage the implementation of initiatives leading to the revitalization of living environments in the MRC Pontiac and/or to create and maintain jobs on the MRC Pontiac territory. These two major elements are intended to improve the quality of life of our citizens, and are based on the following principles:

  • Encourage the sharing of facilities and services and the creation of multi-service hubs;
  • Support multifunctional development;
  • Support community beautification;
  • Attracting and retaining young people;
  • Support a community transportation service;
  • Take steps to attract new families;
  • Introducing new technologies;
  • Create environments conducive to healthy lifestyles.

The call for projects covers the entire MRC Pontiac territory. Determined by the mayors’ council, the seven priority areas of intervention for 2023 are:

  • Tourism
  • Culture and heritage
  • Economic growth
  • Agriculture
  • Socio-community
  • Environment
  • Forestry

Amount available for this call: $350,000
Launch date: August 15, 2023
Closing date: September 28, 2023 at 12:00 noon

“Once again this year, the financial support of our government will enable the implementation of various initiatives that will energize the MRC Pontiac. I invite promoters to participate in large numbers in the call for projects to improve the quality of life of our citizens,” says Andrée Laforest, Minister of Municipal Affairs.
