Update on the Lac Dumont File…
The Ministry of Forests, Fauna and Parks has authorized the MRC of Pontiac to close the road access to the beach at Dumont Lake. The autorisation is conditional on the road closure being permanent, the MRC (along with its partners) bearing associated costs (other than signage costs), and on the closure being within the Société d’aménagement et de gestion environnementale (SAGE) du lac Dumont’s camping lease limits.
The MRC of Pontiac has agreed to build a boat ramp in Trout Bay on the opposite shore to provide boat access the lake, access which is currently at the beach. The MRC has now obtained all authorizations and permits required to carry out the work, which will be completed in June 2016. The project will cost about $ 30k.
By Council resolution, the MRC of Pontiac had asked for the closure of the road access to the Dumont Lake beach because of environmental and public security concerns. The Municipality of Cayamant had also requested this road closure, and SAGE agreed with the closure.
